Places visited: Cagliari - the archaeological sites of Tharros and Barumini, Vineyards and Wine tasting, the famous Municipal Market of Cagliari and cooking class.
Day 1 – Arrival at Cagliari airport and private transfer to the Hotel in Cagliari. Accommodation at the boutique Hotel Villa Fanny. Time at leisure for relax or private visits.
Day 2 – Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning Cagliari city tour with your private guide and driver. Cagliari boasts its origins to 6000-3000 b.C. overcoming several colonizations until 1794, which have left precious evidence of their time. Among the most important sites: the necropolis of Tuvixeddu dating 6th to 5th millennium b.C, the roman Amphitheatre from the 1st century a.C. to the San Saturnino church from the 5th century a.C., and more recent centuries with the Castello Quarter with its ramparts and Cathedral. In the afternoon transfer to the vineyards of the Parteolla region, where you will meet one of the managers who will lead you through the history of this important winery. The visit will end with a gorgeous wine tasting accompanied by typical Sardinian local products. Return transfer to Cagliari.
Day 3 - After breakfast departure towards Oristano and Sinis Peninsula. Here you will visit the ancient archaeological site of Tharros, among the most important of Sardinia, a precious evidence of long-lasting human settlements that provide a lecture of subsequent events of the entire Mediterranean: tokens of Neolithic culture of Bonuighinu in IV millennium, the Nuragic culture, Punic and Roman age and the Byzantine period. After the visit you’ll enjoy amazing SEAFOOD meal at an ITTITURISMO, the restaurant of one of the historical Fish farms in Cabras. The fishponds of the area provide top quality fish from the eggs of which are used to produce the Sardinia caviar ‘’Bottarga’’ excellent to enrich the dishes served in the best restaurants. In the afternoon visit of the Natural Park of the Sinis Peninsula and the cozy town of Cabras. On the way back to Cagliari, stop in Barumini for the visit of the ‘’Su Nuraxi’’, the well preserved Nuraghe complex dating back to 17th century BC and Unesco Heritage.
Day 4 - After breakfast meeting at the local Market in the early morning with Chef Laura. Today you will visit, with the skill of Chef Laura the most important and famous Municipal Market of the Island, the Mercato di San Benedetto. One of the largest city markets in Europe, coloured and with intense aromas, crowded with the usual clients and tourist, you will experience a great deal of fresh fish, meat and vegetables coming from the local production of the Island. Chef Laura will buy the fresh food products for the lunch and cook them at her restaurant during the cooking class you’ll assist. Enjoy the tasting of the delicious meal! Free time in the afternoon for a stroll in the city.
Day 5 – Breakfast at the Hotel. According to your flight departure, private airport transfer. You can spend longer in Sardinia if you book this tour as part of a Multi-Destination holiday.
